In May 2013 I started a journey around the world. After quitting my job I decided to give myself a break and fulfill a long time dream of mine: Travel around the world. Literally. In 4 months I covered 55006 km (34180 miles), visited over 15 places in 11 countries.
I’ve always loved travelling. Exploring different cultures and experiencing adventures all over the world helps me seeing my own life from another point of view. I will share more details of this trip later in this blog. Here are just a few highlights:
– Seeing Elephants, Giraffes, Rhinos, Hippos, Lions, Cheetahs, Zebras, Monkeys and many incredible animals during a Safari in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park
– Seeing the smiles of curious children when visiting a Zulu village
– Looking down from the roof top bar of Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Hotel
– Participating in a purifying ceremony in Bali
– Experiencing an earthquake on a small island (not really a highlight but an exceptional experience and a unknown fear I had to deal with)
– Seeing the sun rising on a volcano in 3,000m height
– Seeing Orcas close to our boat
– Watching a James Bond themed firework on a rooftop terrace in Vancouver
– Snorkelling with turtles in the Carribean
– Living on a sailing boat for 10 days
Here’s the route of my trip. I started in Berlin, Germany, the first stop was South Africa:
